As a result of these events and fundraisers, we have been able to build up our community, help form friendships, enhance these events, provide school-wide programs, provide and budget for next school year.  In fact, through your participation in these fundraisers of buying and/or selling tickets, we are thrilled to announce that the PTO is able to pay in full for the cost of continuing education for our teachers.

This summer three teachers from our Toddler community and three teachers from Primary will attend training at MTIPS in Chicago.  These week-long seminars are hosted by Master Montessorian trainers and enhance the Montessori communities our children thrive in year round.  They allow our teachers the tools they need to give your children a head start advantage in their early and kindergarten education.

Through these fundraising efforts, the PTO is also proud to announce that the school will be receiving essential equipment;  three new copy/printers and toner for each!

We are pleased to announce the following positions for the 2017/2018 School Year: Allie Burch/President, Sarah Markiewicz/Vice President, Toni Ryan/Secretary and Katarzyna (Maja) Stojadinovic/Treasurer.

The PTO would not have accomplished any of the things that we did if it wasn’t for the help of our entire community.  While we appreciate everyone’s efforts, I would like to acknowledge the following people for jumping in and helping make all of this happen:

Amy Asewe:  a key player in establishing the 501c3, Kai-Lynn Rim and Briona McKinney lead Teacher Appreciation, New to MSR Naomi Randazzo jumped in for communications and created the New Parent Quick Ref Guide, Sarah Craine, Maja Stojadinovic and Sara Markiewicz  headed up the Sunshine Team which did the meal trains, Newborn gifts and Mom of the Month, Kat Lacy-Wilson and Sabine Strobl put together out first yearbook and Anam Toufiq put together the kids’ favorite, “Fitness Friendzy”.  Of course special thanks to Joanne Shango for allowing us to run with all of these programs that brought so much to the community.

It has been a pleasure being on the PTO the this year, and we found that we created a dynamic, humorous and creative team. We worked hard to build the PTO this year, and while there were a number of “telecommuting” work sessions and midnight emails, nothing was more rewarding than the smiles our children gave us when they saw us in the school volunteering, and getting to know your children as they often took our hands and led us around the school.   We are looking forward to a much more relaxed year with an plan for events, ready support and volunteers who have already signed up to bring their own ideas to life.

My last point is about our most recent event, National Children’s Day:  Kids on the Go!  The event was a HUGE success!  To those of you who stepped in to one of early planning meetings probably have an idea of just how much it meant to see this event take off.  Thanks to everyone for rolling with the bumps as we figured this out but our mission was accomplished, and the reviews, comments and photos of kids with ear-to-ear grins while trying out activities and vendors, kids and parents asking about “next year” certainly proved that.  (be sure to check out the pictures from our own talented Rachel Walter at https://rpwphotography.pixieset.com/kidsonthego/  download code: 2908)

On that note, in order for this event to happen next year we will need help.  We will need an event chair and co-chair as well as volunteers for specific areas.  We have a clear vision of what the event is now and have a clear picture of how it will be done and a full year to accomplish this.  Chair, Co-Chair and large/corporate sponsor team positions need to be filled by September 1, 2017 in order for this event to happen.  Please consider helping by emailing the pto at montessorischoolrochesterpto@gmail.com.
